The Farha Festival

Our last Farha Festival took place in Luxor in December 2013.  At the moment we don't have any more planned, but please get in touch if you would be interested in future similar events.

We rarely get the opportunity to dance with live music .... so the Farha Festival was created by Kay Taylor to give folks just that opportunity.. It has been an incredible experience doing the Festivals, which were held in Luxor.  We don't have any more planned at the moment but who knows what may happen in the future.

Whatever level folks took  something away from this. Dancers chose to work with live music - up to and including a rehearsal and performance in the show. Others took part in the workshops to find out  how you go about working with a live band ...... but chose not to perform.  Whatever your level this was an incredible opportunity.

The opportunity to work with professional male dancers in Luxor.  Mohamed Kazafy created a piece of choreography specially for the Farha Festival.  Those that wanted to have the amazing experience of performing with a folklore troupe instead of a solo could do so.  Or some chose to do the classes but not have the pressure of performing.

What makes the Farha Festival so special?

Small Master Classes - maximum 20 - this enables the teachers to focus on individuals and make sure you get the most out of the event.
All classes with good English speaking teachers or a translator.
Many classes with live music - all are fantastic musicians.  You can read more about Ahmed Mahrouse and our orchestra 'Layali el Helwa' by clicking on the 'Farha Band' link on the side bar.
